The Kent Companies Announces Senior Management Changes
The Kent Cos. is making several senior management changes within the company.
Effective March 1, Bill Kent, current president and CEO, will be transitioning to chairman and CEO. With this change, he will focus more on the strategy, growth and the company’s best capital structure. Along with Kent’s transition, the company announces that Terry Adkisson, currently the chief operating officer (COO), will become the president and COO of The Kent Cos. Adkisson will be fully responsible for all operations and support departments of the company.
Adkisson has been with the company on and off since he was 15 years old, when he started as a technician for Avis Lube. He has served in a variety of positions for The Kent Cos., including district manager and director of operations for Avis Lube Fast Oil Change Centers. He was promoted to chief operating officer in 2008 where he has steadily insured that the fast growth stayed in line with the company’s vision. Adkisson is a strong believer in the development of future leaders in the company and has truly instilled a culture of training, growth and profitability.
Adam Sturdivant, current director of operations over Avis Lube, Mr. Payroll, Car Wash and Security, has been promoted to vice president of operations. With this new role, Sturdivant will be responsible for all operations over all our entities, as well as the maintenance and security departments.
After joining the team as a manager in Avis Lube, Sturdivant has rapidly advanced throughout the company in his 16 years of service. Sturdivant has been highly influential in the company’s operations and has continued to show an exemplary commitment and vision for the company.
While some of these are major changes for the business, The Kent Cos. believes that this organizational shift will greatly impact the company for the better. The company is proud to offer growth plans and opportunities for team members at all levels and this is just one step further in creating more career paths.
“Thinking back over the years, it’s amazing we’ve grown to this point and have the leadership and talent we are blessed to have. In a way, it seems like yesterday when we had just a few stores, a few quick lube centers, no restaurants, no food service, no Mr. Payroll’s, no ATMs, no transportation trucks, no distribution center and certainly no departments like we have today. Back then, we had maybe 50-60 employees. Today, we don’t have employees, we have team members….and our team has grown to over 1,000 positions. I’m so proud,” said Kent.
